Rhinoplasty hump removal (humpectomy) is a surgery to smooth out the nasal bone by removing the projecting hump in the middle of nasal bone. Correction of cartilage and bone is done by calculating the possibility of hump recurrence so that hump returning chance is minimized and beautiful nose is created.

When a portion of nose is too big on the face, it won’t make you look so attractive from the aestietic point of view. Reduction Rhinoplasty corrects the wide nasal bone by fracturing and gathering the nasal bone inward to make the nose slimmer.

Upturned nose and short nose are considered to be the most difficult case in rhinoplasty category. Surgery is performed precisely after analyzing the deviated bone structure through 3D CT scan. For the best result, it is recommended to have the surgery done by an experienced plastic surgeon.

Suppressed glabella
In this case, raising the height of nasal bridge alone can raise the starting point of nose.

CASE 02

Upturned nasal tip
When the nasal bridge and tip are high enough but the tip is upturned, cartilages from septum or rib is used to lengthen the nasal tip downward for correction.

Bulbous noses are usually caused by small cartilage and thick skin on the nasal tip. Rhinoplasty for bulbous nose is done by getting rid of unnecessary fat and gathering the cartilage for sharper, sophisticated looking nasal tip.

Wide alar cartilage
Trim the cartilage smaller and gather them to the middle. Cartilages of ears or septum are inserted in the space between spread alar cartilages for nasal tip to look narrower.

CASE 02

Spread alar cartilages
Trim the cartilages smaller and both sides are sutured and tied so that the septum connected from lower part gets elevated for sharper nasal tip.

CASE 03

Thick layer of fat on nasal tip
Fat is removed to make nasal tip sharper and flat nasal tip or bone gets raised by using autologous tissues.

Before surgery

On the day of surgery, it’s recommended to dress comfortably and to bring a hat, sunglasses, glasses, scarves, etc.

If you are taking any medication, please tell your doctor in advance. You have to stop taking your medication from 7 to 10 days before the surgery. (Aspirin, painkillers, etc.)

If you have symptoms of cold and flu, high fever, severe phlegm or cough, it is recommended to postpone the surgery.

Please stop smoking and drinking three days before the surgery.

5

For smooth anesthesia process, please fast for 8 hours before the surgery. (Including candy, gum, and any kind of beverages)

Driving immediately after surgery is dangerous, so please use public transportation or come with your guardian.

If you take blood pressure medication, please take the medication with only a small amount of water at 7 a.m on the day of the surgery.

Enough rest and vitamin C intake after the surgery will promote collagen to regenerate for faster recovery.

Please avoid jogging, swimming, and acupunctural massage for up to six weeks after the surgery.

You need to sleep in the right position, not lying on sideways for four weeks after the surgery.

Do not bow your head or sleep on your face and use 2-3 fluffy pillows to elevate your head over 20-30 degrees higher than heart position – this helps with swelling and bruising minimization.

The swelling is at its maximum within 48 hours after the surgery. It’s good to use an ice pack for the first 7 days and start using a hot pack after that period.

Smoking and drinking are prohibited for fast recovery. It can be done starting from 3 – 4 weeks after surgery but only in inevitable situation.

Please avoid using the sauna for about 4 weeks after the surgery.
